A home provides a sanctuary, a place to rest and rejuvenate and create lasting memories. After a decade of being welcomed into clients’ homes and investment properties, as well as being introduced to all their family members including pets, Tim and Annabelle wanted to reciprocate and show where their road leads after a long working day.

Tim recalls his first viewing of their own residence: “I remember I arrived before Annabelle and saw the home first. It felt like home as soon as I walked up the driveway and into the entrance.” Overcome by the beauty of its Hampton-inspired, single-level design, captivating gardens and inspiring view, it was then down to Annabelle’s inspection to decide if this would be our new home. “This is it – it’s the one,” she declared after leaving. An offer was made, a negotiation commenced the same night with the representative, and we secured the home.

Their former residence was an executive apartment on the Kingston Foreshore, with views of hot air balloons from their bedroom in the morning. During March, they gathered their staff to watch Canberra’s Sky Fire display from their balcony. Dining at the award-winning restaurants, and enjoying one of the best views in Canberra, having both canal and uninterrupted views of Lake Burley Griffin, made leaving difficult. However, after four years there, a growing little boy required a traditional family home with a rear yard to release all his excess energy.

Annabelle finds it hard to decide which part of the home is her favourite. “As I love to read, both the soaring, raked feature ceiling in the formal living room, or the intimate lounge room with its heart-warming fireplace, make a wonderful setting to relax and take in a good book.”  Tim mentions, “Just like my little boy, Paddy, I find it hard to sit still for too long. The home has a stunning pool, a gymnasium, a firepit and a great place to play basketball. There is always something to keep both of us active.”

The home is filled with modern and antique furniture which they have collected over the years. In addition, they have pieces of their family’s history, such as Annabelle’s late grandmother’s pottery and Tim’s late grandfather’s oil lantern. But despite its furnishings (and their intentions) the residence is a working family home. In the blink of an eye it can turn from a showroom to a war zone, thanks to their little boy Paddy.

Tim and Annabelle feel privileged to be custodians of their home, which they have owned since 2017. They understand the importance each home has to its residing family, and they treat every house and client negotiation as if they were their own.
